I am sad. Today I learned that the Fleece Inn burned down. The Fleece is the 500 year old pub we visited while in England, and went to on Christmas Eve. It was there we sang Christmas Carols around a warm open hearth, it is there that Father Christmas visited and gave the girls gifts. What lovely memories and what a beautiful building! Apparently a fire started in the bathroom, cause still unknown, and spread to the thatched roof. Unfortunately, it took the fire department 20 minutes to get out there. The people at the pub tried to stop it with hoses and things, but it was not enough. However, they did save the 300 year old pewter collection and some other valuables. The roof was destroyed, the interior has a lot of smoke and water damage and it will likely take years to restore. It is the only pub in England owned by the National Trust.

I had hoped then, and still hope, using photos, to make a minature version of this beautiful old pub. If you would like to read more about The Fleece, go to http://www.thefleeceinn.co.uk.
In other news, the coin from China was a BIG hit with Becca, she was so excited! She insisted on taking it to school and showing it to everyone. She seems to have recovered fine from the tooth extraction and has not brought it up once since that day! My brave kid!
It is Friday at work, and I am deeply grateful. I think any more than the hours left, I would be jabbering like an idiot. My only plans for the weekend are to clean and to try to relax. The kids want to go to the library, so I will see if we can fit that in as well. It would be nice to work on some furniture for the cafe, or to do some landscaping around the cafe.
I also hope to finish the book Angels and Demons this weekend, his stuff is hard to put down once you get going on it.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, hugs!

I'm really sorry to hear about the Inn. The fire started in the bathroom? Smoking perhaps...
That sucks.
Have a good weekend! We're seeing in-laws...ergh

What a shame about the fire. I assume that since the Fleece belongs to the National Trust there will be funds to restore it. Fortunately there is still a group of skilled craftsmen in England that have the ability to recreate the original.
That's too bad about the Inn. It looks very cool. I wish we had that sorta history here...
What a horrible shame about the inn. But perhaps the National Trust can restore it. The national lottery proceeds go to the National Trust.
