  • Well we survived Wednesday. Becca had her bad tooth pulled, everyone at the dental office commented on how good, brave and well behaved she was. She was disappointed that the laughing gas was not more fun. I think she expected it to make her laugh the whole time. Megan got her teeth clean and examined  and has no cavities. Yeah! We are done with dental stuff for the next six months. Oh, and as another sign of stupidity in the world, the dental office would not let Becca take her tooth home. Apparently it is considered a health hazard by OSHA, since it had a bad cavity. Duh. I bought a special mint coin from China for her to get from the tooth fairy tonight. It has a panda on one side of it.

After lunch at McDonalds (so Becca could get a milkshake) we headed home for a bit before running off again for her eye exam. Yes, she needed new classes. Her last check-up in May put her at a -3 prescription. Now she is at -5. Poor kid. The doctor says he wants to see her every 6 months now, since her vision is changing so rapidly. Her new glasses are a cute metal frame with a purple/brownish color to them. It really suits her and should be ready in two weeks.

At work, the big news is the cancellation of the Comanche helicopter program by the Army. Our company works on three major defense programs, one of them being the Comanche. About half of my work is for that program, and my old boss Scott, works (or did work) entirely on Comanche. People are worried and very uncertain about the future of their employment. Oh well, only time will tell. I am registering to take a three day class up in the San Fran area in May, to learn automated QA testing, something my QA background is currently lacking. I am also working on my resume. I would rather be proactive in situations like this, than sit around and wait to see where the rocks land.

Finally, to answer some questions recently asked:

Yes, Angels and Demons is a good book, I have read about 1/3 of it so far. I already read The Da Vince Code, it is wonderful. It does not matter what order you read these two books in, they can stand alone. I finished I Know This Much is True. It was a very intense and emotional book to read, hitting too close to home at times, but I don't regret reading it. Despite the angst, I think the main character finds what he needs in the end.

Yes, that dollhouse is small. Furniture will be about 1/2" tall (or less) for most the pieces. I have never done furniture that small, so it will be a real challenge. And yes, I even hope to take a stab at making tiny food to go in the bakery case and on some of the tables.

  • I couldn't get in to see the picture of the petit kimono.  I got my copies of the Da Vinci Code and Angles and Demons from the quality paperback book company, so they will go into my "to read" pile.  I will try to email Becca tomorrow.  Today was too much of a zoo.

  • Happy Thursday!   :)

  • Brave Becca.  Did she like the panda coin?

I think you are very wise to be looking at the need for a possible job change.  It is better to be prepared for the worst and not have it happen than to not be prepared and have it happen.

    Much love,

    Mom

  • You must make a tiny Cobb Salad then!
Kudos to you for being proactive about the job.  That bites (pun fully intended) about Becca's tooth not being able to come home.  How'd the coin go over?
    -M
