Oh my god, weekends in December get busy! This one was no exception. I think I was going from the moment I work up on Saturday till I went to bed on Sunday, but I did get a lot accomplished. I feel a bit more of a pinch this year with the trip, because I want everything done and taken care of before we go so I can just relax and enjoy then.
So, first I wrapped all the gifts for both my sister's families. My job this week will be to find boxes they will fit in so I can mail them out. I also got all the Christmas cards signed and addressed to go out into the mail today, complete with school pics of the girls for family. We rented the movie "Prancer", and I watched it with the girls while working on the cards. Becca adored the movie and I suspect will be begging to watch it several more times before we have to return the tape.
The girls and I also went to Islands on Saturday to get Becca's "award" lunch for her outstanding achievement and attitude at school. Becca was very excited because the manager came by the table and introduced himself to her. She declared she wanted to work there when she grew up and then got even more excited when the manager told her the employees got all the food they wanted for free.

I discovered that one pair of dress-shoes that I bought the girls to wear with their Christmas dresses was mismatched, a size 11-1/2 and a size 2! Arggh, so I took them back to Target and got that straightened out. While there I asked both girls to pick out a toy to give to charity for a toy drive. Becca did a great job but Megan cried and cried and wanted just did not get the concept, no matter how we assured her that she would get Christmas gifts of her own soon.
We looked at Target for Christmas trees but they were all dried out and nasty. We ended up at a lot run by a nursery and it was so nice. Same prices, but the most beautiful, fresh trees! And really good customer service. I am sure we will go there again in future years. At this point the tree is up in the family room, but not yet decorated. There just was not enough time to do everything. I did manage to get up the Christmas lights outside however, and that was a very big hit. Both girls had to run out last night in pajamas and slippers to give their approval.
I also helped each girl write a letter to Santa last night. Megan wants "a house for Eeyore with an ocean" (I have no idea!) and Becca wants Santa to stop in China on the way to our house and get her a Chinese math book. And you thought kids just asked for bikes and computer games.
The weather was rainy on Sunday, so I made a big pot of homemade chicken soup for later in the week. It got a thumbs up from Becca who is a huge chicken noodle soup fan.
This week I am going to start to pack the non-essential things, because I am afraid I will forget something I really need, like the battery re charger for my digital camera. I bought suitcases this weekend as well, so we would have enough packing space for the trip. We only had three small cases prior to this, and that does not work for 4 people on a two week trip.
A friend shared this photo, it was a winner in an "unfortunate Christmas photo" contest a paper was running. *snicker*

Now you should really be in the holiday spirit!

EEK!
Sounds like you had a great weekend.
The photo is scary! I need to find candles for the menorah and get the colored sugar for our chuankah sugar cookies. I am finding it is much easier to get seasonal this way and less stressful for me. We have no room for a tree anyway.
Well, after that weekend work must look relaxing!
That is some picture. Just think that person has at least one "loved one," because someone took that picture. Ugh..................
Have a good week.
Love, Mom
That photo is very, very scary!
I love the way you are teaching charity to the girls. Even if Megan doesn't get it now, she will eventually. The girls also have some very interesting Christmas wishes.
