  • What a long day. Working on just breathing in and out. Anger does nothing productive. Gene wrote me e-mail, said he would drive out to the new house rather than try to renew his license and drive the U-Haul.

It is a real emotional fight today in my head. The job hunt is very discouraging. I just don't have the skills that are being demanded. Employers want 4 year college degrees, documented programming experience, hardware knowledge, etc. In the heyday of the Internet/Dot Com boom, no one cared about that. It was easy to find work. I just had to be good at testing software. No one cared that I only had my AA. No one cared that I had not worked years as a C++ programmer.

I just need to move on though. Nothing will be resolved today. Today is today. I need to focus on my current work and getting ready for Megan's birthday tomorrow. She will turn three. There will be giggles and smiles and new toys. We have a great new house and I will be around wonderful friends who will be helping us move in. There are a lot of very wonderful things.

  • Moving to a new place is a wonderful way to make a fresh start don't you think?

  • There is no stress top compare with moving into a new house much less looking for a job that doesn't seem to be there.

Enjoy the birthday party and as you say, celebrate all the wonderful things like three year old kids!

Look forward to hearing about the move!

  • You have such a great attitude about life! You can't help but have good things happen to you!

  • I know this is a mom thing, but technically Gene can't drive any vehicle until he renews his license. If he gets stopped or in an accident he will be in big trouble with not only the law but your insurance company.  You can't afford any more problems.  If he needs to walk, or ride his bike, or take a bus or taxi, or get a ride from someone, he needs to go to DMV before he does anything else.  It's time for him to be responsible and think of his family.

  • Good luck with the forthcoming birthday!

  • Best wishes on your job hunt and a very Happy Birthday to Megan!   3yr olds are great! [:)]

  • Happy Birthday to Megan.  Did her book arrive from us?

  • Good luck with the job search! I don't put that much stock in certs., especially when any numbskull can study on http://www.cramsession.com to pass most of them. I've worked with people with certs. in the past who didn't particularly impress me... As I recall, Bill Gates himself is a college dropout...
