We went out on the whale watching cruise on Sunday but did not see any whales
. The weather was really nice however, and it was relaxing to go out to sea for a few hours. Becca bounced all around the ship looking at everything while Megan was more subdued and stuck close to me, playing with a deck of cards most the time.
I did see a seal or sea lion playing in the wake of our boat a few times, it was hard to tell which it was, I would just see a brown head pop up out of the water. We also saw a Navy Nimitz, the USS John C. Stennis (a nuclear powered aircraft carrier), out doing maneuvers. Those ships are HUGE! I can see why they call them floating cities! And finally, I learned that the Star of India, a tall ship we saw in dock, is the oldest active ship in the world! Wow! Now for some trivia: the Star of India was built in 1863 and used an experimental design that utilized iron instead of wood. On her very first trip to sea she had a collision and mutiny!
Star of India
Yesterday was back to work for me, but the girls were home with Gene for the day. I think they kept him very busy, but he still managed to install a big sheet of pegboard in my craft room for me to hang tools on, and he hung a cabinet I had bought some time back. He even cleaned the inside of the refrigerator, something I had hoped to get to this weekend, but had not managed! Since I did not have to pick the kids up from school, I was able to put in some extra hours at work and make some headway into my backlog. That helped, I tend to get stressed and a bit frantic when it gets too crazy.
Oh, the whale watching folks gave us all passes for a free boat trip since we didn't see any whales. They promise you will see whales or be entitled to another ride. We can use the tickets for any of their harbor tours or another whale watching tour. I didn't realize till we were home, the company accidently gave us one extra ticket too! So perhaps we can use it as a treat for our next house guest.
Hope everyone is having a good day, hugs!

Cool, another boat trip! I am surprised that Becca did not somehow end up stearing the boat.
Sorry you didn't see any whales... that sucks. But, you getta go again sometime and that's cool!
The Star of India is cool, too. I like those old sailing vessels.
Nice deal on the whale watching tickets -- seems pretty cool to me. And major major hubby points to Gene.

Score on the tickets!
And you have an outstanding husband...I can barely get Danny to rinse his plate.
