Dang, January is half-way over!! Where did all the time go?
We have returned from Vegas. No, I did not lose money there. No, I do not really gamble. I played a bit of blackjack to be social for an hour and broke even, that was it. Otherwise we wandered around, hung out with our friends and had a good time. It was a zoo, due to the Consumer Electronics Show. Oh my god, it took one hour to take a taxi from one end of the strip to the other for dinner on Friday night, and we were going to an early dinner at 5:30 pm. You can only imagine how bad it was later.
For the most part, we just walked or took the bus. The kids loved it. I can now write a guide on all the cool and fun things kids can do in Vegas. There are live lions at the MGM Grand; tigers, dolphins and assorted other critters at the Mirage; a free wild-bird show at the Tropicana, free circus and acrobat shows at Circus Circus, free magic shows at Excalibur and of course M&M World with four stories of hyper-inducing sugar and chocolate! But most important of all, I was able to grab a bit more sleep and do some relaxing. Yeah!
I did catch a cold while in Vegas, but I thought it was either the tail end of my strept throat or allergies, since I did not feel bad in any other way. It hit full force on Sunday and I realized it was a cold and I had to take off Monday and Tuesday from work. My poor boss. Then Monday night, Becca woke up at 2 am saying her tooth hurt and proceeded to come into our room every 30 minutes after that telling us how bad it hurt. We were exhausted, she was miserable. In the end I took her to the dentist and learned she had a horrible cavity and an abscess under the gum. No wonder she hurt! The tooth is in such bad shape they will have to pull it. Unfortunately it is a molar which normally would not come out till she is 12 or 13 years old. The dentist is really great though and doing things in stages so it will not be traumatic for her. He will not do surgery like that the same day a child comes in for an exam and cleaning. He does not want them to associate bad things with dentists if he can help it.
I am back at work, hard after almost three weeks off and I am working to get my life and the house back in order. I had to rush around and get more pet food for all the critters, do cleaning, and there are still Christmas decorations to take down, since the fairies did not come and do it while we were gone. Bah!
Saturday, our friend Joe, from England, will stop by, on his way back and we will probably go down to the beach to just relax and look at tide pools and such. The weather has been really amazing this week, in the mid to high 70's and so it should be a nice day for a walk on the sand.
Hope everyone is well. I will finish my report on England. I have tons of pictures to share, I am just in the midst of organizing them. But as a tease, here is a picture of the home we stayed in while there.

Poor Becca. Glad to have you home. I missed you while you were gone.
Poor Becca. It is a good thing the tooth fairly gives extra for teeth that have to be pulled.
I didn't know you have been sick. I hope you are feeling better now.
the pictures are great. I can't wait to see the rest of them.
Love, Mom
Star trek books are not really reading, they are like fast food for the brain. I am finally getting out of my depression enough to be able to read again.
That is an awesome house! I want it!
Hell... I'd settle for a trailer in the country, at this point...
