  • Happy Valentine's Day!

Poor Gene has to work today, as most Saturdays, but I am working on making a nice dinner for him to come home to. I am planning chicken breasts in a wine and mushroom sauce, one of his favorites.

Tomorrow, as my Valentine's Day gift to Gene, we are going to go whale watching off the coast of California. This time of year the California gray whale is migrating between the north and Baja to have babies. Perhaps we will even see some babies. Gene has never done this before and several months ago mentioned that he would like to do this some day. It is a 3-1/2 hour trip, so should be really nice. About 20 years ago, I went on a whale watching trip and adored it. We also saw a lot of sea lions and dolphins. I suspect the kids will really like this as well, they have not really done any boat trips like this. Cross your fingers for good weather, at the moment I am typing this, it is raining out! Ack!

Today I am going to take the girls out to get haircuts and I hope to finish the windows and shutters for the dollhouse I am working on. I cut out all the "glass" from clear overhead transparencies (like people use in work meetings). The big trick is to not get the super glue on the plastic or it fogs up the "glass". Ugh, I have done that a few times already and stabbed myself once with the Xacto knife! Hehe. This is why I don't wear nail polish. It is pointless on my fingers. Eight windows are completely done at this point and four shutters are glued in place. Four more windows and 12 more shutters are left.

I also need to do cleaning, what else is new? I did a full scrub-down of the microwave yesterday, but I still need to hit the bathrooms and do a long needed cleaning of the interior of the fridge. Maybe if I tied everyone's hands behind their backs it will stay clean for 24 hours! I won't even mention the girl's room. That would require a bulldozer at this point!

Anyhow, hope everyone has a nice holiday and holiday weekend, I know a lot of people have days off for President's day weekend, so enjoy!

  • Happy Valentine's Day!  Whale watching sounds really cool.  You'll take pics, I hope!?!

  • OOhh Whale Watching!  I think we are just planning on dinner out, a movie at home and nookie.

  • I think your weather is supposed to be clear for the whale watching.  Enjoy your trip.  Happy Valentines Day.

    Love, Mom

  • You Valentines Day/Weekend plans sound so romantic. You are the cleverest lady I know. I can just picture you and Gene snuggled together on the boat watching for the whales and the girls being all giddy with excitement.

  • Ooooh, whale watching!  I did that in middle school and have always wanted to go again as an adult!  I hope you see some babies!  How precious.  And the cleaning thing?  Ugh, I've got the back bedroom to do also.  It was my craft room, but we just bought an actual bed (we've had this fold out thing in the living room).  Anyway, now the back bedroom will be an actual "adult" bedroom

  • Hope the Whale Watching was fun!  Couldn't have asked for a prettier day!
    -M
