Megan has a cold, a low-grade fever of 100, so she has to stay home from school today. So, I am home today, on mommy duty. Becca declared she was sick this morning as well, jealous that Megan would have time alone with me, and started to do fake sneezes.
Last week, after I took Becca to the dentist, we stopped at the fabric shop so I could get a cutting board to use with my miniatures. I noticed a new gaming store next door, so we stopped inside and bought a game called "Cha Cha Cha Chicken". It is very silly and the girls seem to like it. While I was paying for it, I asked the clerk how long they had been around, he said 4 months, but that they had a long time store in a nearby town. "Ahh," I said, "That explains how you have some of the older White Wolf books." He looked at me like I had just said the world is flat. "You know about White Wolf?" he said with obvious amazement. "Um, yeah, I have played that gaming system for years now." He looked from me to Becca and back to me again and I think he was in shock. I laughed, "Yep, even 40 year old moms play games."
At work, I am trying to get transfered to another division and type of work. Making tabs for folders is making me nuts. There is an opening for someone to do software configuration management in another program and they are very interested in hiring me. The problem is my new boss, he does not want to let me go, and has been dragging his feet on all this, in hopes they would fill the position with someone else. The topic came up before Christmas break. Of course he also gave me a speech about how he supports my career and wants me to move up, etc. But between the lines, that seems to be as long as I keep working for him and don't go elsewhere. Ugh. So I am trying to just press ahead and I have set up a meeting with the hiring manager in the other division. Since I am home with Megan today, we will do a phone conference. I am crossing my fingers. And yes, the original position did get filled, due to my boss dragging his feet, but now there is a second opening.
I am hoping to find a little time today to work on my mini house, if Megan takes a nap. I have about 4 zillion window frames that need to be painted and some wallpaper on the second floor I would like to get up. I also need to get out and get some groceries. There is always something that needs to be done. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Why is it that the guys that run the gaming stores freak when a woman comes in and knows about gaming? I hope you are able to get the transfer.
LOL @ the fake sneezes.
That's too funny.
That Becca! What she won't try. Oh boy, those teen years are coming at us.
That job sounds like a much better fit for you. I hope it works out for the best for you.
Love, Mom
