It has been a nice weekend, and I am enjoying the sunny weather, especially after seeing the news of temps below zero back east. On Saturday I did take the girls to the miniature show in San Diego. It went fairly well and they had fun. I had to remind them not to touch, but not as often as I expected. They also had a nice display of work done by local club members and the girls enjoyed seeing all the houses and shops. Becca particularly liked a gemstone shop done in miniature.
I found a really cool miniature tin bread box in red and white with cherries on it. I think it is similiar to ones made in the 30's and 40's. I will try to get a picture to post later, if anyone is interested. I was also able to see the lady who will be teaching my class tomorrow. Her sample of our project was on display and looked very neat. The interior was all decorated. I will try to take a camera tomorrow and get pictures of her finished product. She sent us photos, but it was before she had finished the work. Here they are:

Sunday I was busy getting my scanner to talk to my laptop and running back and forth to Frys. I ended up with a new scanner, my old one was 5 years old, which is very old for computer stuff and it just could not speak to my XP operating system, even after upgrading drivers and such.
Then this afternoon, I sewed a picture for each girl, from printed panels from England of cute mice from a collection called Brambly Hedge. Here is a scan (from my new scanner) of the main picture on the pillow.
Gene took Becca out riding bikes, but Megan did not want to go, so she stayed home and "helped" me sew. All in all though, a quiet, relaxing weekend over all. It was good to not have a ton of chores to run. And I am really looking forward to working on my new house tomorrow in my class.
Have a great week!

Ohh Brambly Hedge has cute stuff. The dollhouse is adorable. Right now my head is so full of Elizabethean Faire stuff I think I am going to fall over.
That is a charming dollhouse. The Brambly Hedge fabric is darling. Did you make a picture or a pillow???? Enjoy your class.
Love, Mom
