  • Yeah, the weekend!! Yesterday was an off Friday and for the first time in ages I didn’t have to be somewhere, I didn’t have a kid home sick, I didn’t have an appointment, or company to entertain.

So I slept in, did mega spring cleaning (I know, it is winter) of the family room and then Gene and I went off to see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. Wow, it was 3 hours and 27 minutes long, but wow, it was GOOD.  I think it was the best of the three movies and I know the series will go down as a classic in movie history. They did everything right to bring the books to the big screen.

Today Gene is off to work and I am working on more cleaning. I really need to get the laundry room/craft room picked up so I have a place to work on miniatures again. Over Christmas, all the kid’s projects were piled on my work table and now it is buried. *sniff* But I shall have it back!!!

On February 1st, I will be taking a class in quarter scale, taught by Debbie Young. That is where the scale of 1/4″ is equal to one foot. We are supposed to be making a little cafe. I have not seen what it will look like, but I love all the other settings this artist has designed in the past, so I am sure it will be great. She did plans for a really lovely house in the December issue of a dollhouse magazine. It had a Christmas theme and was called the Sugarplum House.

There is also a miniature show next weekend, but I don’t know if I will go. It is in downtown San Diego and features a lot more of the 1/4 scale, which I like. It would likely mean taking the kids too, which I am not sure I am up to. They don’t obey enough when I say don’t touch and broken miniatures can be expensive to apologize for and buy!

Well, back to cleaning, the living room is calling my name. Hope everyone has a great weekend.
