  • Surgery Weight Loss Update

Well I just got back from the doctor and he seemed please with my progress. All my stitches are out and I am down 17 lbs. I seem to be dealing with a liquid only diet a lot better now, and not craving solids like I was. I am glad for that.

I continue to work on walking and my nurses were proud to hear I had managed a mile already.

Tomorrow I will go back to work, although my doctor does not know that. I am sure I will be fine, I am sitting up at home as much as I would at work and I am managing to do housecleaning and laundry already. Sitting at a computer at work will be relaxation next to that! ;-)

Yes, I am stubborn, but I really would not be going to work if I didn't think I was up to it. I am not that stupid. :-)

  • Awesome! You're amazing.

  • I've never thought of you as stupid. Stubborn? Well, just a little. LOL!

Press on, Jane. There's a lot less of you now than there was when I met you. In more ways than one.

  • Congrats on the weight loss--even though you had to have surgery to achieve it. A bit of a bonus perhaps?

Just take it easy at work. There's a lot of stress in the workplace that can affect how you feel physically.

  • *hugs*  Of course you're not stupid!  And I prefer, a la Linus, TENACIOUS to stubborn.  That you are, and that we must be to survive this crazy place.

You're doing great!  17 down . . . if you're allowed to lift, find something that's 17 lbs and pick it up and see how much you're not carrying around with you now.  Or 15 or 20--get close.  I do that when I hit a milestone or when I get depressed about my weight.  It's an awesome reminder of how far I've come and what a great thing I'm doing for my health.

  • so is it the surgery or the amazing and rather harsh lifestyle changes - liquid only diet and walking - that account for the weight loss? i don't really understand how this surgery works (obviously) - does it make you less hungry + the determination and drasticness of doing that be an extra spur for related healthy lifestyle improvements? what are the statistics for long-term weight loss?
